If there was one thing that always happened to me, it was leaving home and realizing halfway there that I had forgotten my CNH.
And then came the desperation: “What if they arrest me?” But after discovering that you can have the digital CNH directly on your cell phone, that was never a problem again!
Now, even if I forget my physical wallet, my driver's license is always with me. And the best thing: the process to obtain the digital CNH is super simple and fast.
So, if you don't use it yet, I'll explain how it works and what the best apps are for it.
I tried three apps: see which one is best for you
To make sure I was using the best option, I tested three different apps. Each one has its advantages, so I'll tell you about my experience with them.
1. My Detran
If your state's Detran has its own app, this can be a great alternative.
In addition to the digital CNH, it allows you to check fines, license points and even schedule services.
• My experience: I found it very useful because, in addition to the CNH, you can resolve many other things without having to go to Detran.
• Negative point: Not all states offer this feature, so it's a good idea to check first to see if it works in your state.
2. Digital Transit Card (CDT)
This is the official government app and the most trusted one.
In addition to the digital CNH, it also allows you to access the vehicle's document and receive alerts about deadlines and fines.
• My experience: It was the easiest to use and activate. Quick registration, smooth facial recognition and voila, my CNH was there.
• Negative point: Sometimes the app may take a while to load if your internet connection is slow.
3. ID.GOV.BR
This application is a hub for government documents and services.
Allows you to access the digital CNH and other important documents without the need for multiple applications.
• My experience: If you already use Gov.br for other functions, it may be interesting to have the CNH there as well.
• Negative point: It's not that practical if you just want the CNH, because the app has a lot of other features and can be confusing at first.
Which app to choose?
If you want the most direct and reliable option, Carteira Digital de Trânsito (CDT) is still the best choice.
If you prefer an app that also helps you with other tasks, Meu Detran may be interesting, but check if your state offers this functionality.
And if you already use ID.GOV.BR for other services and want to centralize everything in one place, this may be an option.
However, if your sole focus is CNH, this app may be a bit more complicated to use.
Is it worth having the digital CNH?
Definitely! I never again worried about going out without documents, and I also have the peace of mind of receiving notifications when my license is about to expire.
So if you haven't activated it yet, give it a try, download it to your Android either iOS and then tell me what you thought.
I bet after using it, you won't want to go back to the physical version!
